Clear skies, light breeze, 70 degrees--doesn't seem possible for a Summer morning in NW IA, but that's the weather we traveled in this morning to Friendship Community Church in Sgt. Bluff. There we were welcomed with coffee, lemon aide and cookies to join their 11th annual "Biker and Car Buff Sunday" I believe this is the 4th year Rods N' Rides has been invited, and we're never disappointed! The worship team did a great job, Pastor Verlyn Schaap delivered and great evangelistic message on the meaning of the Cross, and then we were treated to a smoked pork loin dinner with all the "fix'ns"! 43 Bikes and 7 cars traveled from Sioux Center, as well as the bikes and cars from the local Sgt. Bluff area. About 15 to 20 bikes were driven into the church and lined the front of the sanctuary. It was quite a sight!! I understand that Pastor Schaap is retiring in January and we wish him the best. We hope that the "Biker and Car Buff Sunday will continue. I'm sure my High School classmate, Harlan Vander Vliet will see to that as he is instrumental in organizing this event.
Our next ride is July 24 going to Mill Creek Park in Paullina with Jon De Groot brining the message and the praise team. DON' T MISS THIS ONE if at all possible. See you then!

We had a beautiful morning for our ride to Good News Community church in Arnolds Park this morning. 39 bikes an 1 car made the trip, some from as far away as Lawton, Sioux City, and Sioux Falls! I guess the 7:15 departure time was not an issue and that's certainly a beautiful time of day to ride, cool and very little traffic. We enjoyed a great worship service there with Anthony Parrott delivering a timely message on God's forgiving grace and the praise team leading us in worship through song. Afterwards many riders stayed up at the lakes area for lunch or to visit relatives and friends. 17 riders headed for a "warm" ride down Hwy 9 to Rock Rapids Pizza Ranch for fellowship and great food. It's great to visit with people who you wouldn't normally see on a Sunday morning. All in all a wonderful start to our Rods N' Rides for 2016! Thanks to all who attended today! Karl K.
